Spring brings flowers and green grass and also parasites that can be potentially harmful to you and your family.
Parasites can live in the soil for many years. When the weather becomes warmer we tend to spend more time outdoors therefore creating more risk for parasites to invade.
As humans we can help protect ourselves against parasites by doing things such as washing our hands after we have contact with our pets, cleaning up pet wastes as soon as possible, by not allowing children to put dirt in their mouths, covering sandboxes to protect them from fecal contamination and of course checking each other for ticks after spending time in wooded or high grass areas.
